Introduction of IRREGULart
Tie-Dye Workshop
IRREGULart is located in Pak Kok San Tsuen, Lamma Island, surrounded by the sea, hidden in the green hills and clear waters of the village. The island has many historical traces and natural landscapes from the early days of Hong Kong's development. Breathing in the fresh air of nature and listening to the birds sing, you can enjoy a relaxing day trip for your body and mind. Time seems to stand still, allowing you to fully enjoy and appreciate every moment of the present.
IRREGULart is promoting the Mosaic art to everyone. Mosaic is a delicate decoration made by inlaying and piecing together colored pieces, such as small stones, shells, ceramic tiles, and glass, to create patterns on walls or floors. It originated in ancient Greece, where people living in caves used various types of marble to pave the ground to make it more durable. The earliest mosaics were derived from this foundation.
Today, there are more materials available to make mosaics, including traditional materials such as marble, pebbles, glass bricks, pottery shards, porcelain, and enamel, as well as any materials you can find in your daily life, such as buttons, tableware, or stationery. In this high-tech era, glass-shaped inlay pieces made of gold and silver can also be mass-produced.
Tie-Dye workshop
Tie-dye has a long history and originated in the Yellow River Basin. There is no consensus on its exact origin and it has a long history. There was already a large production of twisted and dyed twisted silk during the Eastern Jin dynasty.
Tie-dye generally uses white cotton or cotton and linen blended white cloth as raw materials, and the tie-dye process is divided into two parts: tying and dyeing. It is achieved by using tools such as yarn, thread, and ropes to tie, sew, bind, stitch, and clip the fabric in various ways before dyeing. The aim is to prevent the tied part of the fabric from being dyed, so that it retains its original color, while the untied part is evenly dyed.
With the rich variety of modern dyes, tie-dye techniques have many options. Reactive dyes can be operated at low temperatures, and dispersing dyes have good permeability, while direct dyes have a natural effect. Nowadays, tie-dye is no longer limited to clothing but has a wider range of uses, with hundreds of products such as dyed cloth, tablecloths, curtains, clothing, ethnic bags, hats, handkerchiefs, scarves, pillowcases, and bed sheets.
IRREGULart offers handkerchiefs, pencil cases, long bags, T-shirts, canvas bags, backpacks, neckerchiefs, pillowcase covers, and more to choose from.
